Parc Animalier de Bouillon

zebra

Below are photos of some of the animals at the Parc Animalier de Bouillon, the zoo I visited during my romantic weekend in Chassepierre. The zoo was rather small, but cosy and some animals really remarkable - such as the maned wolf (whose urine smells like cannabis, so much that the police searched the Rotterdam Zoo for cannabis smokers), the white lions (that exist only in Bouillon) or the snow monkey (who managed to communicate his wish to get him some grass to eat because it was out of his reach).

Top to bottom: (1) zebra, (2) maned wolf, (3) white lion, (4) snow monkey, (5) rhesus monkey, (6) night monkey, (7) snowy owl, (8) Siberian tiger, (9) highland cattle, (10) Patagonian mara, (11) Patagonian mara babies, (12) wild boar, (13) Canadian lynx, (14) emu.

What's the last zoo you've been too? Do you have a favorite animal?

  1. I've never seen a white lion before! How cool is that? It looks like a unique zoo (and that's funny about the maned wolf). Hope you had a great time!

  3. Hi Y'all!

What neat animals. My Human went to a zoo once, but they don't allow dogs.

    Y'all come by now,

  4. I’m so jealous of your zoo!! Apparently we don't have a zoo?! So we were forced to visit a pet store and make our own :-)

  5. We L-O-V-E London Zoo.

We went mid-week during the Easter holidays. It was a very cold day but meant the crowds were non-existent.

    We visited the aquarium.......

.....and also the Reptile House and the Creepy Crawlies exhibition. We saw swarms of locusts, sea snails and some slimy salamander type thing (sorry, that's as good as you're going to get from me).

Our favourite bit was Penguin Beach, where we saw the penguins being fed. There is now a large spectator area, which is great.

We also loved the giraffes - we saw the feeding time at 3pm, which is aptly called "high tea".

We also very much enjoyed the bit where you can walk through the monkey enclosure and they run about around and above you.

There are literally hundreds of animals at London Zoo, including tigers, lions, (but no bears), leaf-cutter ants, and the ever-popular meerkats. There is a fantastic bat cave, an indoor rainforest (with more monkeys), and a pool of lovely, squeaky otters.

We have been several times in the past, and we'll definitely be back in the future.
